Little fatima used to ba a homeless girl after being displaced when a tornado hit her town for six months. She was lost, desperate and scared and is seven years old. She would hide in abandoned homes, digging for morsels of food and trying to find fresh water supply around. Her resources would be limited in which she would have to be quick when problem solving. She found empty plastic bottles and to place water in and carried them in her little bag she found amongst some rubble. One day she found the old candy store and that she knew it was wrong to steal, but she had no access to fresh food and taking in consideration to her religion the food only served as a purpose for nurioushment and worship. She thanked Allah for the little she could find. She would walk for hours on end and when it came to dark she would find an abandoment shelter, lay in the rubble with her blanket and go to sleep. The next morning she got up and was walking and went into the next town which was a regular one. She stopped to praise Allah for allowing her to live another day. Just then a woman who was rocking back and forth on her rocking chair noticed a little girl coming in the town. She ran towards her and said oh my goodness mercy, HELP, HELP, SOMEBODY I NEED HEELP! THERE'S A GIRL WHO'S PASSED OUT AND SHE NEEDS MEDICAL ATTENTION. Her husband opened the screen door and yelled out to his wife, WHAT'S ALL THE FUSSIN FOR ANGIE? Angie repsonded back with shouting: THERE'S AN AFRICAN AMERICAN LOOKIN GIRL THAT NEEDS MEDICAL ATTENTION! Her husband Artie licked his dry lips and scratched his rear while keeping the screendoor opening and responded back with: HAVE YOU CALLED 911? Angie yelled, NOOO, I DON'T HAVE THE PHONE OUT HERE, YOU'RE GONNA HAVE TO CALL THEM ARTIE. Artie was irritated and go her the go on woman you it yourself gesture. He didn't want anything to do with a black girl. Well, isn't artie a racisit, tsk, tsk, tsk. Anyway. Angie notice that the weekly sand storms was about to hit and so she carried in lil fatima and hurriedly walked up to the front porch and closed the door. The sand storm came in the town hitting the shingles with a rough brush of sand. You could hear the pitter patter of the sand agaist the house. Artie moved towards the window and watched through a closed window of the sand storm. Hey chuckled aloud it sure is a windy day angie. I know said Angie. Angie had placed fatima on the living room couch so that she could rest. Meanwhile Artie walked over to the couch to check out fatima. What is she an alien? She got some weird thing on her head as he scratched his head tryin to figure it out. Angie was coming by with a small cup of fresh cold water and told artie to move and leave her alone. Angie placed the cup on the coffee table and crouched down on the floor near fatima's face. She genty touch fatima on her cheeks to wake her up. She didn't move. Hmm, angie was stumped as she placed her arms on her wide hips. Quick, artie go grab a wash rag and run it under some cool water. Can do, said artie as he went to get the rag. Then artie came with the rag and handed to anie. Angie dipped one end of the rag in the cp of water and place the wet end on fatima's forehead. They waited for at least a minute and little fatima slowly opened her eyes. She was startled. How did these people find her? Why was she inside strange folks house? Ohh good you're awak honey. Here have a glass of fresh cold water. Fatima was nervouse. Artie had a second heart and reassured her with go on and drink some. It'll make ya big and strong. Okkkk thought fatima. She took the cup and drank all the water and let out a refreshing ahhh.Angie offered her some food. Are you hungry child. Fatima nodded slowly yet excitely. Foood yaaaaay alhamdulilah. Angie stood up and waited for fatima and she held fatt's hand and walked her over to the table. You came just in time for dinner. Oh don't forget said Artie, you're supposed to wash up for supper. That's right agreed angie, here lemme walk you towards the bathroom, artie, fix the little girl a place and some lemonade, do you like lemonade sweete, fatima nodded her head. Artie smiled as he fixed her a modest plated of food that had corn-on-the-cob, honey ham slices, peach cobbler, fried chicken, green beans, mac-and-cheese, coleslaw, potatoe salad, black eye pease, mash potatoes and gravy, and white rice. When they got back, fatima was starving for some good food. Artie placed the plate on the table in front of her while angie placed a napkin on her lap and one across her chest. Before she ate she said BismiAllah and ate her food. She didn't notice the ham there because she was hungry and didn't complain. She drunk her lemonade and ate her small bowl of peach cobbler. She sat back in the chair with a smile and a full belly. Angie was watching tv while knitting a baby cap. Artie stood by the counter drinking some lemonade and asking fatima, How was the peach cobbla? Fatima gave it a thumbs up. Atta girl he said. Angie makes the best peach cobbla in the town. You know she won first place with a blue ribbon at the 77th annual county fair. Fatima giggled and let out a big belch and quickly covered her mouth in embarrasement. Artie slapped his thigh and laughed as he place his empty cup on the counter and went to pick up fatima's dishes off the table. Now, don't you worry a burp is a good thing. It means you enjoyed my wife's cooking. Fatima smiled. Fatima can talk but didn't feel like it in this setting. Angie looked at the clocked on top of the old television and said Ooohh it's nine o-clock time for bed young one. Fatima hopped out of her chair and awaited for next move. I'm gonna show you wear you can sleep in my eldest daughter, Martha's room. She's a grown woman now and she visits every now and then but she wouldn't mind you to sleep in her room. Angie turned on the lights and Martha's room was small with a big collection of vintage victorian dolls sitting on the bed. Fatima was in awe. Oh you'll have to excuse these dolls, I'll move them out your way. Angie place the dolls in the old crib on top of each other and pulled the covers back so that fatima can slip in and sleep. Ahhhh a nice cozy bed, I miss this said fatima to herself. As angie finished tucking the child in she almost forgot about her headscarf. Sweetie, since you are in bed, are you allowed to take off your scarf. Oh, fatima forgot about that too. She kept it on for so long she forgot and wanted to keep it on. Angie told fatima that it was dirty and it needed cleaning. Fatima refused. Angie grabbed a mirror off the dresser to show fatima her dirty hijab and she was right, her hijab was messy. She agreed to let mrs. angie to clean it and give it back by morning. In fact, mrs. angie forgot to give fatima a bath first. So angie and fatima got up, but angie had to find some clothes that would fit fatima for the night until she could wash and dry fatima's dirty clothing. Anyway she gave her the bath, fatima said her prayers while making dua that she would find her parents and move someplace in the meantime. The next morning angie and fatima were off to the market. Fatima got to wear her clothing and hijab which felt clean and new again. As angie went an got a cart, a sister with niqab came by in slow motion and stopped to see little fatima. She gave fatima the salaams. Fatima was so excited to see another muslim in the area that she snuck off from ms. angie and followed the niqabi around in the stored. They played peek-a-boo and mrs. angie had a cart and was looking around to find fatima. The niqabi was in the canned goods aisle, and fatima found her and spoke to her. Sister, have you seen my mommy and daddy, brother and sister? No said the niqabi. I'm not sure who they are. Why do you ask? Because every since the tornado had hit my town i couldn't find them and ever since yesterday i was staying with some non-muslims and even though they treated me well, i want to live amongst my sisters and brothers in Islam. Hmmmm, why didn't you say that before. Here come with me said the niqabi as she held out her hand and fatima went with her. Angie was looking in the store for little fatima and aggressively asking customers have they seen fatima. But angie didn't know the little girl's name. The niqabi went into the bathroom and had extra clothes for fatima to wear. She gave fatima a beautfiul brand new navy blue khimar set to put on and change her shoes for black mary janes and stuff the old clothes in her bag. They left the bathroom and everntually out of the store. Noone noticed. The niqabi opened the car door to let fatima in the backseat and buckled her up and shut the door and the niqabi got in and buckled up and drove off. When she got to her house she opened the car door up for little fatima to get out and welcomed her to her house in which case she was moving. Fatima, said the niqabi my name is Iqraa nice to meet you. Anywayz, me and my two girls are getting ready to move out of this place to go to a cooperative living home called the Sisters Sunnah House. Where my two girls (astacia and gracia) and you can live. Since your story is unique they can help sponsor you but not adopt you meaning, they'll take care of you similiar to what those non-muslims did except with alot of other muslims. They have play time, homeschool, food, education etc. Sounds like fun? It really does says fatima. So what are we watiing for let's go. the girls got into the car as Iqraa as she drove off from the house. When they arrived at the SSH later that night, fatima was so excited. She has never been to a place like this before. She, Astacia and Gracia were also amazed. Umm Tiara walked over to the three girls, gave them lolipops and walked with them to the waiting room so mommy can get stuff done. She supervised them along with other kids waiting for their mommies to be registered at the house. After Orientation, sister Iqraa could pick up her kids as well as sis fatima and went up towards their room. When homeschool started fatima had lots of fun with the other kids, but often reminsce of the old times with her family members. Sister Anisa noticed that fatima looked sad and wanted to speak with her to see if she would talk about what's troubling her. Fatima told her story in how she was displaced when a tornado came through her town, she got seperated by her family and lived on her own for six months until she walked into the next town and a couple took care of her for one night and that mrs. angie a non muslim woman wh took care of her took her to the store and that's where she met the niqabi iqraa who basically kidnapped her to her house with her kids and drove us down here that's my story. Wooow, said Anisa, what an interesting story. I'm kind of creeped out that you were kidnapped, but I'm glad you are here. You are a very intelligent young lady and she pinched her cheeks to cheer her and it worked but fatima sighed. hey you know what, how about I read you a story to take your mind off the pain. Okay agreed fatima. Ania clapped her hands. Children, it's story time! Yaaaay, the kids stopped what they were doing and got in a circle for story time. while fatima sat in the back to listen. Anisa helped out in the homeschool but she wasn't the teacher she was on break. Later that evening Anisa went down to the library to try and look up fatima's parents. She went on a website that had a listing of survivors. Anisa gained fatima's last name through one of her talks with her, her last name was Umar. She looked up the Umar family amongst the listings and there it was. They had a family picture and an urgent request for fatima. There was also contact information and so anisa typed and clicked send. The next morning she checked the computer and there was a reply in her email inbox. The father responded is it true, we have been searching for our daughter for six months? Before she could reply she logged out and wanted to see if fatima could confirm that these people were her parents. So she woke up fatima, and they both wen into the library. Anisa showed fatima the website and the contact information wondering if fatima knew these people. Fatima squinted and read some of the information on the page. Fatima was excited, yes these are my parents! Really? asked sister Anisa she was so excited! Yes, yes they are can you reply a message about my safety sister anisa? Sure i can said anisa. So it was sent. They waited patiently. Anisa thoughted heeey, I'm going to send them my cellphone number so they can call me so we won't have to waited by the computer. She sent another reply and then waited. After five minutes anisa's cellphone buzzed. Anisa answered, hello? As-salaamu alaikum said a mrs. Umar. Wa alaikum as-salaam mrs. umar, my name is anisa and your daughter is healthy, alive and she's sitting right next to me. Are you sure asked mrs. umar, yes ma'am here i'll let her talk to you. Okay said mrs. Umar. Fatima was so excited. As-salaamu alaikum mommy! Mrs. Umar screamed in the phone AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH Little faati it is you how are you? Oh my goodness Alhamdulilah, we were worried sick about you? What's going on? How did you survive? Fatima: I'm ok mom, some good people took cared of me along the way. Where are you all? Is everyone ok? Yes, alhamdylilah we are in atlanta right now staying at your grandmother's house. Wooow, so when do you think you can come home? Ummm, fatima held down the phone to speak with anisa. Anisa. Yes, said Anisa. Do you know when i could go home to my family? Oh as soon as possible. But i think before the SSH can release you, there have to be some paperwork and id to verify that they are your real parents althoguh i believe you, it's just a standard procedure here for your protection and their protection. Ok, said fatima i understand. She picked up the phone and began explaining what anisa said. Ok. well we can get the paperwork and id and contact where you are. Where are you by the way? I'm staying at the sisters sunnah home. You can go online and find the website. Oh ok, mrs, umar righting down the info so she could contact the house. Alright mom i have to go, but i'm so glad to know that you are alive and well, alhamdulilah. Alhamdulilah. Alright faati, talkied to you later, inshAllah, sallaamu alaikum, wwa-alaikum salaam! Fatima ended the called and closed the phone. She handed it to anisa and told her the good news. Two weeks later after the paperwork and ids have been cleared. The SSH allowed the umar's to come pick up their child. Anisa sid good-bye to sister Iqraa for bringing her heer and to her daughters astaica and gracia her were good sisters. She said good-bye to anisa and hugged her, and to Umm Tiara as well. Astacia walked over to fatima and gave her her old clothes and hijab back from when sister Iqraa changed her out into the navy blue khimar set. Thank you sister Astacia. Umm Tiara gave her a keepsake a t-shirt and extra hijab with lace. A honk at the door sounded and Umm Tiara rushed to answered the door a sister with a black abaya with golden embroiedery came in and saw her daughter, FATIMAAAA! Fatima said, MOMMMY! And they hugged each other as the sisters shedded tears because little fatima found her family, subhanAllah!Mrs. Umar kissed fatima on her cheeks and pinched them. She bent down to grab fatimas things and thanked the SSH for watching over her beloved daughter. They all said you welcome and sister anisa was tearing up the most. Fatima waved bye bye to her as mrs. Umar and fatima closed the door.
