I learned about this in my management class but these same principles can be applied here as well. In the text my mgmt book gives the denifition for conflict resolution. Conflict resolution is "managing a conflict by confronting the problem and solving it."
Steps to iniate conflict resolution*
If No, then restate the problem
4. Find a solution together
5. Restate the solution
6. Implement the solution
I'm going to change supervisor to house keeper ok?
"To initiate conflict resolution, a housekeeper must begin by understanding what the conflict is. The housekeeper then states the problem and listens to the response; when the parties are communicating, they can find a solution and agree upon what each person will do.
To respond to a conflict, a housekeeper should listen to the other person and try to understand the problem. Then the housekeeper can build cooperation by agreeing with part of the statement and working with the other person to reach a solution.
To mediate conflict resolution, a housekeepr begins by establishing a constructive environment, then asks each person to explain what the problem is and state what he or she wants. Next, the housekeeper restates each position, asks for suggested solutions, and encourages the parties to select a mutually beneficial solution. Finally the housekeeper summarizes what course of action has been agreed upon."*
